How do you measure launch day success? For an open source tool, would you prioritize GitHub stars or emails, and why?

GitHub. The many merged pull request you successfully make the more you enrich your resume, the higher the chances to get a well paying job

I'd say it depends. awareness or acquisition, what's your main objective when launching?
for the record, when Documenso (open-source DocuSign alternative) launched, the team focused on acquiring its first early adopters (e.g. revenue).
as a side effect, the number of GitHub Stars skyrocketed (+300%).
