How to create partnerships with other startup owners?

At Ringly.io we've already had some requests from other startups to create a partnership, but very few of them are good candidates. How would you go about finding partners and how would you make it work!?

Finding good partners is like making friends or choosing a spouse. First, learn about them to see if your goals match. Talk a lot with others in your field and always be clear about what you both want from the partnership.
