I guess in depends on the real interest we have on that new thing. If there's no passion for it, there's probably motivation required

If it's interesting and a good tool to have in the shed, then it's worth learning with no motivation needed. But if it's a required tool that doesn't hold any interest then it's just an annoyance to learn.
