How are you currently selling your software or web apps?
Hey everyone ๐
Iโm doing some research and wanted to hear directly from developers, indie hackers, or SaaS builders:
I found that developers are doing well by using platforms like Gumroad, Paddle, and Lemon Squeezy to run sales - typically spending around 5โ15% in revenue share, or paying monthly fees depending on the platform. Many also run direct sales through custom websites using Stripe or PayPal integrations.
Where are you currently selling your software or web apps?
Are you using platforms like Gumroad, Paddle, your own site, or something else?
Whatโs been surprisingly effective (or ineffective) in driving sales?
I'm curious to hear from others, what has worked for you? Any unexpected wins or challenges?
Iโd love to hear real-world experiences - curious to learn from the community. ๐

JFYI, Gumroad takes 10% if the client was brought directly to the form. If the client found your product in their store, it's 30%. So it's good to have both a website that can convert your user, and Gumroad as well (if they happen to convert from their store, why not, == free users)
Hey Lou :)
We use a combo of strategies for sales for Yahini:
We occasionally run LTD campaigns (with FB communities) and that's great for reaching PMF faster, however I highly recommend you think this thoroughly as your business model needs to match the lifetime deal stuff. (like, calculate ROI, profits, costs, viability, etc).
We only advertise our monthly subscription on our website. For that one, we currently run cold outreach (super successful as of now), and as for me, I speak to tons of people on social media to understand their goals, etc.
It helps that I used to run a boutique content agency so I already have connections in the content field, and given that Yahini's a strategy tool, it helps to have these connections.
IMO it's not enough to put up a website LP and call it a day anymore. Anyone can do that. You need to put in some effort.
Happy to answer more questions if you have any! ๐
@mia_k1 Re: #2 - I've experienced a similar feel with cold outreach in this field - people are super friendly and always looking to collaborate!
Thank you for your response, I agree thoroughly with #4 ๐
