Something I did about a month ago changed my anxiety level so deeply, so I want to share it here.
I turned off the notification badges on my phone mail app. Now I don't know if there's a new email in my inbox (actually 10 of my inboxes) until I open the app manually. When I open the mail app, I triage very quickly which emails to read and which to delete/archive.
I didn't realize how such a small change could make a huge difference in my wellbeing. Now I sleep better and start the day more focused. :)
@diana_iun Only for cold emails! If someone I don't know reaches out to me requesting a meeting, they shouldn't be asking me to go out of my way to book the meeting that they want to have! Plus I automatically think it's a copy & pasted generic email that they've sent to multiple people.
So I usually immediately file those away!
I strive to read and respond to all my emails, but occasionally, some may slip through the cracks. As for the spam box, I check it periodically to ensure important messages don't get missed.
I quickly scan through, delete unnecessary, file ones that I'm copied into for reference and then create a to-do list at the start of my day of anything that actually needs actioned.
