Cabin Fever Working From Home Anyone?

I've worked from home now for about 7 years and I still have to admit getting cabin fever every once in a while. I hug my dog, he's my go-to help when things get rough. What else does everyone else do to help them get through the day?

I've been travelling around while working for the past 1.5 years, and I found it somewhat worse than WFH in one place for cabin fever. Because we often picked quite remote, rural places (because we like the outdoors etc.) where community is often hard to find. Even if we're in a beautiful place, I'm still working 40+ hours a week, so just tapping away at an AirBnB could get really grim sometimes. Little walks and stretches etc. are great, but I find that it takes a bit of discipline especially when things are busy. I'm stoked that the startup I work for pays for a co-working space stipend. It's been so good being able to meet locals there and to just have that water cooler banter.

I have been working from home for 1 year now, so still kind of new. But when I get into a slump, I go work somewhere else - a coffee shop, coworking space, public library. Just a few hours in a new environment seem to do wonders for me :)

Yes, major cabin fever! I even miss my commute! 😳 I resorted to getting a co-working space!

Similar to others I take some short breaks. I think for many of us we're missing being around others, but not necessarily needing to interact much. There's some really interesting research about the importance of having random interactions with strangers in our lives to help us feel connected in society. Sometimes I find a walk down the street is enough or heading to the coffee shop for a cuppa. I'm just back into a new role which is WFH and my longer-term plan is to schedule a couple of days each month into a local digital hub. But I also have planned a good few evenings each week which is getting me out and about and meeting people.

I definitely get cabin fever too and find myself getting distracted by literally anything apart from my laptop at times! Although some products allow you to connect with your team, you still feel that sense of distance when you're just typing and waiting for a reply. I think here at oVice, we really try to incorporate that feeling of collaboration and relationship building while also giving our users a sense of ownership and individuality with a customizable virtual space where they can interact with others in real time.
