What matters to you more? Follower count or engagement?

Follower count matters – but more and more people are starting to look at engagement stats. Because how does it look when you have a trillion followers and barely 2 comments under the post? 😀 Furthermore, even Twitter started paying creators for engagement from verified users. What is more important to you? Can you also share on which social media you have the most followers and engagement? Me: Followers: Product Hunt Engagement: LinkedIn

I can say that the most important thing is engagement. In my experience, bloggers with an audience of 10,000 highly engaged followers achieve financial results and create projects that many bloggers with 100-200 thousand followers could envy.

@busmark_w_nika You’re right! Activation is also important, especially during product launches. Many mistakenly believe that it’s enough to build an audience and show them the product. But no, there’s work that comes before that. You need to establish a connection with your audience, so they share your values, see your journey, and contribute through feedback and opinions on the upcoming product. Coming back to my point, many bloggers with large audiences chase numbers and forget that behind those numbers are real people, which makes it harder to build a close connection later. But when you do this from the very beginning, sure, you might not grow super fast, but the people who are with you on this journey will be the ones who truly matter.

Me: follower growth ==> on X but mainly with viral Tweet I do feel disappointed with my engagement. My hypothesis is that I need to get follower for a specific niche or precise my branding. Working progress

Engagement all the way! Better to have 100 engaged fans than 10k silent followers.

Only engagement really shows if your content works.

@busmark_w_nika Basically yes, but we were not able to invest the amount of money so far, which I think would be necessary to gain an impact.

For me it’s engagement. I much rather have meaningful conversations and people that genuinely care :)

Twitter has now started rewarding creators based on engagement, which shows that the platform recognizes the value of high-quality interactions over sheer follower numbers. Personally, I focus more on engagement, as it better reflects the impact of the content and the interest of the audience.

Engagement is so much more useful! I like to hear what people have to say. I enjoy an exchange of useful information. And you might hear about a problem and have an idea for a solution. You never know where that can lead.

Is this issue something that needs to be considered?

Engagement is way more important than follower count IMO. You could have a million followers but if they aren't liking, commenting, sharing your content it doesn't really matter. I'd rather have 1000 super engaged followers than 100k that don't interact at all. What matters most is building a real community around your brand/content. Just my 2 cents!

Engagement trumps follower count every time. I'd rather have 1k super engaged followers than 100k who never interact. Quality over quantity! Of course, both matter but engagement shows you're providing real value. BTW, just connected with you on LinkedIn - great to e-meet you!

Of course the engagement! And I sometimes cannot figure out why I got no comments under my discussion topic...

@busmark_w_nika honestly I seldom initiate a discussion. But I'm trying to ask some questions everyday. For now, I simply leave comments under products and discussions to engage more with the community

Engagement is everything, followers are just a number. I want people to love my product, not people who just see my posts.
