What is the purpose of Product Hunt?

Hi all, What is the purpose of Product Hunt. Why do people post here? Is it to validate their product? Is it to get insight on their product? I don't understand. I look at most comments and I don't know if I can trust it since it looks like friends hyping up an idea. What is the use of this platform?

I think the name is itself explaining the purpose. This platform, helps you find amazing products as well you can post the ones that you know and are not on this platform. Enjoy the hunt or hunt it for us all.
