What is the best city to build a startup?

I keep reading that a lot of successful start-ups/companies come from certain cities. Or do you think that this no longer plays a role in today's remote working world and that you can build a successful company from anywhere?

It longer matters in my opinion. What matter more is where you register the business. Eg tax, protection, privacy, investments.

@slimmy82 You're right, that's a very important point. I also believe that a successful startup can be founded anywhere. However, I think there are some advantages in big cities like Berlin. There are a lot of networking events, investors and other founders. But there are also disadvantages. There's a risk that you don't focus enough on your core business and spend too much time at events, for example.

Our company's headquarters is in Korea, but we have a branch in Canada. I think Canada is a country of great opportunities too.

However, many people mention Finland - with events like SLUSH and substantial support for startups, I've heard it's an excellent place for entrepreneurs.

@thestarkster You've made a very good point. I also believe that you can build a successful startup from anywhere these days. However, I think that you often have an advantage in big cities. For example, here in Germany in Berlin. There are a lot of investors, networking events and other founders there.
