Vanity metrics don't tell the full story, so I'm curious—how do you measure the real success of your marketing campaigns? What metrics matter most to you beyond likes and clicks?

Great question, Ashit! To get a true read on campaign success, I focus on metrics that tie directly to business objectives. Customer acquisition cost (CAC) and lifetime value (LTV) are big ones, as they show how effectively a campaign brings in valuable customers. Conversion rates and lead quality also reveal how well our messaging resonates with the target audience. Retention rate and customer feedback are equally important, as they reflect long-term satisfaction and loyalty beyond just the initial engagement. Lastly, return on investment (ROI) and revenue lift give a clear picture of whether the campaign actually moves the needle on the bottom line.

Hard to determine - retention rates ie customer churn is a place to start. Overall signups (depending on the model) - increased rev etc. 1. What is the goal of the campaign? 2. How are you personally determining a successful campaign? 3. look at those metrics? Rinse / Repeat by adding or removing certain variables / assets to see if the outcomes change. That is why we've got AB testing haha

I think it’s crucial to understand who you’re reporting to. If your goal is to sell the product or solution internally, vanity metrics can be quite effective. However, if transparency and objectivity are your priorities, there should always be a clear KPI you can reference after each action.
Focus on conversion rates, customer acquisition cost (CAC), return on investment (ROI), and customer lifetime value (CLV). These metrics provide a clearer picture of how effectively your campaign drives real business outcomes.

Measuring a marketing campaign's success means skipping the glitz of likes and impressions and zooming in on what really matters to me and my company. Think of it this way: running a campaign for GrowStack.ai 10x promise isn’t about how many people saw our ads; it’s about how many took action. We look at Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC) to ensure we’re not burning cash for minimal gain, Conversion Rates to check how many actually tried or bought the product, and Customer Lifetime Value (CLTV) to see if those new customers are here to stay. We’re after actions that impact the bottom line—whether that’s trial sign-ups or loyal customers returning for more. It’s like hosting a great party where guests not only show up but stay, engage, and remember the experience. Now that’s real success.

For me, customer retention tells the real story. If people keep coming back, I know our campaign truly resonated.
