I love the idea of a matching engine for meal + chef. There are a bunch of platforms for freelance chefs already, so make sure you have a clear differentiator, but the right UX here plus covid safety could be a lot of fun for users.

Not everyone has to carry the same weight. Renegotiate the deal so everyone is putting in the amount of time they can afford. (Less time = less equity though). If you're not paying them, will you be able to get someone better? Do they do something you don't know how to do?

tool selection. you can be smart + experienced, but if you're not using the best tools for the job, you're going to lag your competition.
this requires a lot of experimentation, conversation and court sense to get good at.

if you're talking about algo finance, IMO you can't easily compete unless they have a very special proprietary dataset, a very special algorithm, or an operational / latency advantage.
if you're talking about investing in young companies, startups make mistakes; there's a learning curve. but once you know what you're doing, there's value in operational excellence -- bezos has a good quote...

this is years ago, might be better now -- I tagged in to help launch a friend's WP site, and version control + local dev environment were *really hard* to get right. None of my instincts from python / js / go / whatever ported over.
guessing this exists by now, but some way to version environment, theme + content locally would be amazing.

Listening + clear thinking (and wouldn't say that I'm great at either yet).
I'm a product-minded developer so I work next to the skilled product person. The best ones have clear, information-based models for how their product fits into the world and the ecosystem of competitors.
The inputs can be market research, understanding of how new technology changes a market, or in the b2b case,...

'second screen for X'
there are lots of second screen apps for sports because you watch sports on TV.
but omnipresent video conferencing for work + play means that your laptop is often dedicated to the video meeting.
which video-enabled activities in your work or personal life should have a second screen app?

in theory, bossware to make sure people are staying honest. but nobody knows how to measure or model knowledge worker productivity.
corrolary might be that any job we can very accurately measure will become 'pay per productivity' rather than salaried, and then eventually automated.

Hey PH!
Team chat is overwhelming to me sometimes so I built wait.chat to turn it on its head. I talk to a lot of people about async communication styles, and the most frequent answer is 'we'd like to have that but our tools don't encourage it and we don't have the discipline'. Wait.chat is designed to be the tool that encourages async cultures to form.
I'm also trying to solve communication...

people with tech skills get a lot of 'cofounder' requests which are actually just 'I have an idea, you do all the work for free'.
it's important to be clear about what you bring to the table. Do you have access to a network of customers? Have you pre-sold the idea to clients? Do you have an industry analysis based on nonpublic research?
where can i find genuine tech co-founders?

senior managers who are good at their job have incredible strategic intelligence. wouldn't characterize them as 'just good at networking'.
not sure if this is EQ exactly, but ICs who can't listen and communicate won't do well. there's a certain kind of R&D-focused role which requires a lot of individual skill, which you might call high IQ, but to deliver good work this person typically has...

there was a moment at the beginning of lockdown when you could get a virtual meeting with almost anyone because nobody was moving forward on deals and people's schedules were open
