Horrible Experience with Yescapa
I recently rented a camper for 9 days in Portugal through Yescapa, and it turned into a nightmare. Despite having insurance, I was involved in a crash. Initially, it seemed like the insurance would cover the damage based on the conditions I received in Italian, my native language. However, Yescapa later sent me a different insurance document written only in Portuguese, which had conditions that were not mentioned in the original document. They are now demanding I pay over €22,500, more than the value of the old camper!
Yescapa has completely abandoned me, leaving me with this enormous bill. Do not trust them! You could end up on the hook for a massive amount of money. Their low prices are deceptive—they cut costs on insurance, putting you at great risk.
To make matters worse, Yescapa advised the owner to take legal action against me. The owner is also upset with Yescapa because she didn't expect the insurance to fail her either, and now she's forced to come after me.
I had to hire a lawyer and now face legal proceedings. This has been an absolute nightmare, and I wouldn't wish this on anyone. Please, think twice before using Yescapa. I hope my story helps someone avoid this terrible experience.
God bless you.

I can not urge people strongly enough to NOT use Yescapa. I rented an RV thru them this past summer. It is now SEVEN months since I returned it and I am STILL trying to get what is owed to me from the security deposit. Yescapa is an incompetent, dishonest and unethical company. They allowed false claims to go thru from the owner, but even after that THEY still have not processed the return of the security deposit that Yescapa says I am owed.
DO NOT USE YESCAPA. Save yourself the headache.
Horrible communication. Make sure you turn on delivery confirmation in your email. You will send the same information up to 4 times before they stop asking for it. I have rented from McRent and Yescapa now and even though the upfront cost was more at McRent, it is a real business with actual customer service and the ability to manage emails. Also, I agree with others that they have no desire to help the renters. Our camper listing had two fixed beds but only one on pickup. We also had rented with AC in drivers compartment since the trip was for the month of July in Germany but it was broken on pickup, no AC. We could not get ahold of Yescapa on rental pickup and we would have been stranded without a vehicle so we choice to take it as is but no support in getting any refund for the not receiving what we paid for. Their statement is that since we took the camper we accepted it as is, but what other option was available? If you rent from a real company, you could say this has an issue and then take a different one from the lot. In the case of Yescapa, there were no other campers nearby and it would have been last minute rental for 26 days meaning a huge price increase. Now the rental is over and the “extra” fees are adding up. In all, we missed 2 days of vacation dealing with maintenance issues, batter going dead, windows no working, cabinets that would not stay shut, water leaking from fresh tank, etc… and instead of getting money back we will be losing some of the deposit.
BE CAREFUL WITH THIS COMPANY.
The listing for my camper had an error. It said the transmission was automatic. It's actually manual. This error appeared on the English version of their app but not the Spanish version. So when I arrived, I couldn't drive it, and had to cancel. The owner and I were both highly inconvenienced. I had travelled a full day to pick up the vehicle. We provided digital evidence of the company's error, as well as verbal and written confirmation from myself and the camper's owner that this is what happened. I have been fighting over email with the company for weeks now trying to get the full refund. They eventually agreed to refund what I paid, HOWEVER, they are REFUSING to refund 150 euro (for the maintenance/cleaning fee), because they refunded that to the owner. They said I can ask the owner for that. The owner refuses to give it back to me. Why would they? They lost a lot of money too. So now I am out of pocket 150 euro, for an error of the company. They say they have no way to confirm that what I said is true, but I am not quite sure what else they want. They also cannot get the calculations right regarding the actual money they need to refund. I understand that errors happen with apps, but they have demonstrated lack of care for the customer and transparency. It's insulting they still can't get the calculations right when they've already conned me out of 150 euro. They don't listen to what you say over email and will just ignore you unless you push really hard. Total disappointment.
I’m deeply disappointed with Yescapa’s misleading cancellation insurance. Their website claims it "covers you for any unforeseen reasons for cancellation," but in reality, the process is far from straightforward. You’re required to provide extensive documentation to prove your claim, which undermines the advertised flexibility.
Additionally, I felt unfairly compensated after my cancellation. Despite Yescapa offering a split payment option, the insurance only covered my first payment, leaving me out of pocket for the remainder. This contradicts the promise of comprehensive coverage.
I chose Yescapa for the reassurance their cancellation insurance provided, but it fell far short of expectations. Transparency and fairness are sorely lacking.
Me, My wife and our two children rented a mobile home for two weeks in Spain this summer. On the fourth day of rental the front tyre broke on the highway and damaged the vehicle. We waited for help in the roadside for 5 hours (!) in 37 degrees on the highway with our two small children. It was very dangerous due to the high speed cars and the heat. The mobile home had to be repaired and we were promised a full refund by the owners since we were told we were fully insured in Yescapa. It turned out that since the Tyre didn’t explode but were ripped apart Yescapas insurance didn’t cover anything and the owner didn’t want to cover anything even though It turned out that the mounted tyres were 9 years old! It’s recommended to change after 4-5 years.
All in all: We paid 2.532,15 Euros for three days of use before the Tyre broke and were offered 130 Euro in refund by the owner. Even the missing fuel were charged (the auto camper were towed away) We had to find a rental car and book apartments via Airbnb so the summer budget got doublet up. Never use this company - no support whatsoever in case of emergency. In the app there’s No phone numbers to call and nobody to call in case of issues with the owner etc. I highly recommend not to use this company. Use a known brand like Avis, Europcar etc for your autocamper experience.
I recently used Yescapa for a vehicle rental in Maderia, Portugal (visiting from Canada) and the experience left me extremely disappointed. I feel obligated to share my experience to warn future renters about the lack of renter protection and high service fees, which appear to favor vehicle owners.
Our issue arose when the car we rented failed to perform adequately on hills, making it unsafe and unsuitable for our planned trip. Despite informing Yescapa that the vehicle could not handle the mountainous terrain (critical for our itinerary), the company refused to issue a refund. Instead, they insisted the car met the advertised specifications, downplaying the challenges we faced.
We had no choice but to change our plans, book last-minute accommodations, and rent another vehicle—pushing us far over budget. Yescapa dismissed our concerns about safety and additional expenses, placing the burden entirely on us, even though their refund policy initially led us to believe we could cancel without penalty.
This experience was not only stressful but also costly, and Yescapa’s response was rigid and unsympathetic. Their policies seem to protect owners more than renters, leaving us with little recourse despite the legitimate challenges we faced. I strongly advise others to consider these risks before using Yescapa's service. They don't care about you and your experience.
Rented a vehicle that started exhibiting battery problems, leaving us without power steering or power brakes on the highway. We reported it, tried to continue and were able to fix it ourselves, while losing loads of time. When getting to the destination, one window disassembled when opened. Reported that too. They refused to return our deposit and still tried to charge us a repair of the window at a value superior to what we were told was the maximum cost. Terrible experience.
