This could be interesting if the network effects work out.

@grayj_ Thank you! No network effects required, though - Media Requester allows editors to request a photo or video from any Twitter user. Essentially making any social media user a dedicated reporter.

@antonreport Specifically: how well users respond to it, how well requesters come to trust that it's worth trying. How does the "contact user" process run? By email if they've registered, by @mention if they haven't? via DM if they follow you?

@grayj_ Great questions. The initial messages are sent via your Twitter account - so the primary driver of response is if someone knows and trusts you (we also verify all requesters when they sign up). We find response rates to be ~30% if you are not a big brand, and much higher if you are. Correct about the contact process - once the initial connection is made via Twitter @ mention - you can move into private conversation (instant chat coming soon) or continue via Twitter. Our goal is to close the loop on getting your story published by the media, by allowing them to simply connect via social and then collect all the information they need to publish. Does that make sense?

How would the requester know prior to making contact that the person they are requesting media from even has the rights to that media to start?

@AnujAdhiya That's a great question. The short answer is that media companies have their own ways of finding out that information when their editors are browsing twitter.nnWhat we do is help them connect to the person, have that conversation, and then provide the technology tools to acquire their license, check metadata, & confirm ownership.nnHowever, if they want to be 100% sure, they can have users take new photos for exclusive delivery - we have an app that can validate the ownership and location of a newly shot photo. Then you can be certain.

@antonreport Might also run it through the TinEye API as an early step. If TinEye finds 80+ copies of it, the poster is *probably* not the copyright holder.
