We made a reservation with Hipcamp for our 27' travel trailer two weeks in advance. However just two days before we were to arrive they let us know that our camper was too long. The ad stated 35' length max. To our surprise they include the "towing vehicle" (truck) in that! Then they charged us an 18% cancellation fee....
We experienced a bed bug problem with one of the listings and Hipcamp did not do anything to compensate. They still charged us fees for god's sake. They also did not require proof of extermination and there are no policies in place requring hosts to regular mitigate for pest control in cabins. We will never use it again. Buyer beware!
Hipcamp is my go-to app for finding camping spots. What I love about it is the variety of campsites available. It is easy to use and I find it unique to see different camping styles in the filter feature! I'm looking forward to doing another camping trip with this app.
Poor app difficult to use. Admin behind this is woeful uncaring unhelpful dishonest and greedy. It feels like an IT business with outsourced help desk who know nothing. Be careful spending your money as you won’t get it back if you ever have to cancel, despite what they tell you.
I've had a very poor experience with Hipcamp, the app is hard to navigate, pricing is all over the place and you can only ever book 1 vehicle per booking - this makes it hard to book as a group. They also take huge admin fees of up to 18% for canceled bookings. We were fed false information by one of the owners so had to cancel and rebook another property and lost a lot of money from Hipcamp who take the fees (the owner gets nothing). Wouldn't recommend and won't be using again.
