While I would stop short of calling myself an "adventure sports enthusiast" (mostly because the term "enthusiast" is a little douchey), I *do* partake in a lot of fairly risky activities, nearly all of which could land me in a hospital: skiing, climbing, cycling, mountain biking, etc. That's why I became one of Buddy's early customers. I figured IF I'm going to go to the hospital this year, it's going to be from doing something stupid and likely my normal insurance won't cover it.
Turns out, I was right. In December, I broke my shoulder skiing and had to go to the ER on the ski resort. If it weren't for Buddy, I would have had a pretty hefty insurance bill OR an un-set shoulder and undiagnosed lingering bone contusion without painkillers. Buddy helped cover most of the cost of my injury, and the process was totally painless... Well, except for the broken shoulder part.
The hardest thing about Buddy is remembering to get it *before* something happens. So set an alarm, add it to your packing list, or leave a sticky note on your surfboard, snowboard, or parachute. Just remember to get buddy for your next adventure. And if you do break a bone, at least you won't have to break your piggy-bank as well.
