The BLM-resource aggregate was a Tuesday morning project meant to aggregate the flurry of petitions, cases of brutality, and victim names being shared online.
First things first, this was designed as a mobile experience, it might look ugly on Desktop. Just a heads up! π
This was a project I worked on the afternoon of "Black Tuesday," in which people posted a picture of a blank, black square in order to show solidarity for black lives in America following the death of George Floyd.
The idea immediately popped into my head once I saw the black square, and I headed downstairs to code and publish the project as quickly as I could. I worked on the CLI-style animations, and menu navigation and was happy to finish the project in under two hours. The hardest part was correcting the capitalization in the titles of the articles my scripts scraped from the web.
There is no backend to the project, so all the resources are awkwardly stored as variables, and they are dated as well although it served its purpose well, and I had thousands of visitors to the site as people shared it on their Instagram, and got a few leads from Reddit as well.
This is my first submission on ProductHunt, so I apologize if it doesn't fit the bill. I'm a serial project-starter, so expect to see me around here much more! This just happened to be the one thing I had handy, and it's a cute little project I'd love to show off a little more! π
