Timelapse in Google Earth
Watch time unfold and witness 40 years of planetary change
In the biggest update to Google Earth since 2017, you can now see our planet in an entirely new dimension — time. With Timelapse in Google Earth, 24 million satellite photos from the past 37 years have been compiled into an interactive 4D experience.
After watching this, I can't imagine how anyone will be able, with a straight face, to claim that climate change is a hoax.
Watching ~40 years of satellite imagery as a timelapse on Google Earth makes it undeniable.
It's like we're termites.
@chrismessina Wow, this is really interesting. It's amusing to look at your own city and remember certain things. And yes, the climate change is really not to be dismissed, just if you look at the rainforests including palm oil plantations. But it is also exciting for fast growing cities / countries like Singapore or Dubai. Thanks a lot Chris!
edit 1: mmm time to load the screens is way too much and I have a 500Mbits connection...
@chrismessina This is by far one of the best launches from Google in recent times. It's simple and makes climate change awareness more accessible for everyone.
@chrismessina@robinkunz "We are ugly, idiot, babbling beasts. Some of us are over 60' long with brains the size of walnuts. It is the end of the line." - Wm Buroughs, 'Dinosaurs'. #Prophetic
I teared up when I saw the development in the Amazons.
Is like being witness of so many unique lifeforms dissapear in front of your eyes... and it continues.
