Typewrite is a streamlined version of its mechanical counterpart that you can carry around in your pocket. Its minimalist design provides a clean, and distraction-free writing experience, without detracting from the nostalgic feel of a real typewriter.
I developed this app because I knew it would be something I would find useful myself. The ultimate distraction free writing device is definitely the typewriter. But typewriters are expensive, and heavy. While there are plenty of typewriter apps for ios, the existing offerings are glitchy and cluttered with in-app purchases. This extra friction is not what you're looking for in a distraction-free writing experience. On top of that, most don't let you export in an editable format, making the normal process of drafting and revisions impossible. My goal with Typewrite was to fix all of these problems. Typewrite isn't a toy, it's a writing app that gets out of your way, and lets you get work done. I hope it helps you make something great!
I really, really loved this app. Someone may say it’s just a useless feature: it’s not! Writing distraction free is PRICELESS and the sound really keeps you in the mood. You can’t understand how far you are going until you hear the sound and the rythm of the typewriter. It really helped getting me in the mood, I wrote several stories using this wonderful app. Unluckily, I lost it and I found out it’s no more available on the Italian AppStore. That’s why I was looking for it on the web and I accidentally came across this site. I’m glad I can say “thank you” in first person to Nicholas, the author of this app. I payed it only 0,99€, but it meant a lot for me. I hope I’ll manage to find it and download it again in the future. I feel like I just lost a friend.
