TheLifeSigns service sends a daily email with a lifesign button to solo living persons. In case you are not able to press the button, TheLifeSigns automatically sends requests to your buddies to check in on you. This can be life saving.
After working for many years in the pharmaceutical industry (I am actually a pharmacist) I decided to do something very different. Reading a newspaper article about the growing number of singles being found in their homes days or weeks after something happened to them, inspired me to look for a solution for this issue. TheLifeSigns is a simple email based solution automatically notifies friends when a solo living individual becomes incapacitated. TheLifeSigns service was introduced in the Netherlands a couple of years ago, with very positive feedback. We are now working on expanding to the rest of the world.
Currently it is free. The plan is to add paid services like alerts via WhatsApp.
Your thoughts are certainly welcome.
I like the idea and motivation. only thing that troubles me is: do you have any data that support this? in my mind , if you can't press the button either you have some technical problem or if it's physical its most probably fatal and the only good is that they will find your body a bit earlier ?
@aris_alexis Thanks for your comment. The buttons are sent daily. So if you can not press the button you usually get help within 24 hours. A solo living person can get incapacitated in many ways that are not fatal. For elderly falling in the bathroom or from stairs is quite common. In these cases they could die if they do not receive help. I even have a user that does not really care about her own life but cares about her cat. She doesn't want her cat to die when something happens to her.
Only needed to give email address of myself and buddies and it then just works.
Gives me and by family some reassurance that I will be found if something happens to me.
