A first-of-its-kind "financial accountability" website that automatically notifies friends and family whenever you break your spending limits for a certain category (e.g. clothing). In particular, it hopes to help those with shopping and gambling addictions.
Interesting concept! ✨ I like that it's meant to help people overcome their bad habits. Congrats on the launch!
On a side note, there's not much info about the privacy and security aspects of the product. It would be great if you can clarify the data protection and security when connecting it to the bank account.
@andrea_todorova1 Thanks for the feedback! Regarding data protection/security, StopSpend only has access to viewing bank transactions and basic account information. Also per Plaid's developer policy, we cannot "sell or rent End User Data to marketers or any other third party." A few others have had questions about data protection/security as well, so I'll try to add a page on the website about this topic soon. Thanks again!
I am pleased to announce that my web app, StopSpend.com, is now officially in a public and free Beta!
I created StopSpend.com because I wanted to help those struggling with their spending around gambling and shopping. So many with this issue cannot escape the harmful spending cycle and can suffer from financial stress and shame from their loved ones. StopSpend works by contacting a user's loved ones when they break their limits. This motivates the user to stay within budget and helps them rebuild trust with their supporters that they are spending responsibly.
More info can be found on the website, all feedback on StopSpend is greatly appreciated!
