What's up, Product Hunters!
I'm really excited to finally introduce you all to Stashit! I'm Mike, the sole founder, designer, and developer of Stashit. I originally built Stashit to scratch my own itch and figured this may be useful to other digital content hoarders like me. I just hate always having to jump around to different services to find the stuff I'm looking for. It's also really annoying when I get an email I want to read like a newsletter or something from my kids' school and it just gets buried by the end of the day. I know I know, why don't I just move them to a folder? Well.. that's annoying too because I still have to jump around to different services! I also have to save the attachments to my computer just for them to get lost again. I just want everything stored in one place while also being quick and easy!
Stashit acts as a central location where you stash all of your files, emails, web content, and images while being super easy to find whatever you need to access. I was never really happy with the UX of the bigger providers and I also have reservations about using some of these services due to privacy. I was meticulous about which 3rd party services and hosting providers I used for Stashit and chose partners that I felt had a good track record for privacy. I'm using Stashit myself so I'm definitely not trying to get spied on by my own app! 😄
So enough about my itch, on to the features!
With Stashit you get:
- Privacy
- Encryption at rest and transit for stored stashes
- Collections instead of nested folders so your files and content never get lost in the weeds
- Stashes and collections that are automatically filtered by stash type
- A companion Chrome extension for snipping web content and storing it in your Snippet stash
- A Stashit email address that you can forward emails to along with the attachments
- Fuzzy search that filters results right down to what you're looking for
- Ability to view stashes in fullscreen
- Download your stashes
- Easy organization for your digital content
- Less clutter
Each Stash page acts like a filter for that particular stash type. So, if you're on the Image Stash page, only collections with images will show along with the images in those collections. Even if you have other stash types in the same collection. This helps keep the clutter at bay and makes it way easier to find just what you're looking for.
Wish list of features I'd like to add depending on feedback:
- Stash SMS messages
- Notes
- 2fa
- IOS and Android apps so you can stash from your phone
- The Stashit extension ported to all browsers
- Customization of the Stashboard
- Stash sharing
- Connect to all cloud storage providers so it's easier to move files into Stashit
- Improvements to the UI
- Crypto wallet
- Image search powered by AI
- Any additional ideas you have
Stashit EU is also just around the corner which will be a separate launch when it's ready. The European version will keep all stashes as well as the database hosted on European servers with European providers. GDPR is a big deal to me and I put a lot of effort into protecting the privacy of Stashit's users. Please stayed tuned if you reside in the EU!
I have a lot more ideas on how Stashit can be even more useful but I wanted to get some feedback before I add any new features. I really appreciate any feedback or ideas you have and can't wait to hear from you in the comments!

Hey @chrismessina , thanks for asking that. That's how you create a collection when you forward an email to your Stashit account. The word within the two hashes in the email subject creates the collection and the rest becomes the title of the email stash.
@mdatelle interesting! I presume that's so you can have spaces in collection names? What if you have more than one collection specified, like #Hobbies# #Wine Country#?
@chrismessina That's correct, it allows spaces and also to know where the Collection name ends. Using two collection names isn't currently supported but it can certainly be modified to do so. The current code would probably produce a collection name like Hobbies# #Wine Country.
@jsteneros Thank you for your interest in trying Stashit! The EU version is top priority and should be ready very soon. I'm just finishing up multi language support.
This tool offers an efficient solution for storing and organizing various forms of content, including emails, attachments, files, and images. Its all-encompassing storage capabilities paired with an intuitive interface make it an ideal choice for users seeking to declutter and streamline their digital workspace. However, the mention of 'acorns' might add a whimsical touch, but it could also confuse potential users about the product's actual functionalities.
