Today, new changes to the UX and UI in the Product Hunt notification window also showed up on my desktop.
I need a month or so to acclimate to the changes, but in this case, it seems like I'll get used to it pretty quickly – the UI/UX looks pretty intuitive.
Changes I really like:
Preview of several notifications after clicking the bell.
Ability to mark notifications as "All read" in the main notification window.
Notification of who upvoted my Thread.
If I follow a certain category (e.g. Figma), I will receive a notification that someone has contributed to a Thread in that category.
I also noticed that I received more notifications than usual – from a marketing perspective, it can make it seem like you're in demand. 😀
What would I welcome?
I remember that in the older notification method, I also had the option to directly vote for a comment (reply) in the notification window by pressing the "Upvote" button – this made it easier for me to interact directly in one tab. At the moment, I solve it by opening the convo in a new tab.
How do you perceive this change?
Here are some examples on the desktop of the new UX/UI:
Let’s bring back everyone’s favorite kind of feedback: brutally honest and weirdly helpful. Drop a link to your landing page in the comments. Then roast someone else’s. Keep it real, keep it useful, keep it (mostly) kind 🫶
🗣️ We’re talking:
What’s confusing?
What’s missing?
What’s great but buried?
Would you actually sign up or bounce?
👀 The rules:
Give a roast → pick someone else’s page and leave thoughtful feedback.
Get a roast → now you get to hear what’s not working on yours.
Repeat for maximum insight (and pain).
Let’s make each other’s pages better, one slightly painful truth at a time 👇
