RentMyFit is a peer to peer clothing rental app. We aim to empower women to treat their clothes as investments and their closet as a business. We modernize the fashion industry by bridging the gap between sustainability, luxury, and affordability.
Congratulations on the launch! This is truly an amazing idea and as you mentioned, a few other apps are offering similar trading as well. Since this is a marketplace idea, it will initially take some time to be accepted. My question is around the safety of clothes. What if the renter never return the clothes? How are you performing the verification of renters? Note that, if someone has an intention to just steal the clothes, they might use temporary email address and will not care for any feedback. May be its just me thinking like that, but safety seems always be the priority when I see such ideas.
@naveed_rehman Naveed, thanks for your comment!
Regarding the safety, RentMyFit requires an ID verification upon sign-up. Therefore, in the case any fraudulent emails or "fake" accounts, RentMyFit will still have the ID. On top of that, there are many policies in place which protect the Lender. For starters, any time a garment is rented, the Renter's card is on file and cannot be removed until the transaction is complete (once the clothes are confirmed as returned).
While we do not verify the authenticity, RentMyFit does allow the Lender and Renter to open a claim. If the dispute determines that the item is fraudulent, the Lender is given a strike and the item is taken down. Additionally, the Renter is free to leave the Lender the review they see fit, with a 0-5 star rating and room for commentary. These reviews are not removable.
We do encourage Renters to have a dialogue with the Lender prior to rental about any concerns or questions. On top of that, RentMyFit has a three strikes your out policy, where users who are repeat violators are permanently terminated.
It's NOT just you thinking this way! I totally agree that precaution is everything in this case. Thanks!
thanks for the reply. im feeling comfortable with the security measures. i would suggest you to add this somewhere on your landing page. this is actually a plus point that your app is offering v secure method of doing trade.
how r u planning to bring lenders and renters in the beginning? im curious to know as marketplaces are not easy to begin. im sure that you know the story of alibaba...
@naveed_rehman Thank you for your suggestion!
Yes, marketing is more difficult. I am on all socials including Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, ECT. The page steadily grows, with a rate of about 80 followers a week. On top of that, I'm involved in a few networking groups which have helped spread the word. While over 100 users are already signed up for beta testing, I would like to grow and expand even more, and eventually get influencers on the app as well.
I made the decision to buy my dream dress. As I hovered over the purchase button, I winced at the enormous price tag. It was then that I recognized that such a cost should be considered an investment. Just like any investment, there should be a means to recuperate the value of the cost or have the potential to profit.
As I searched desperately for an online platform to rent out my dress, I noticed there was no available company which provides a platform for lender to consumer direct services.
I started RentMyFit because I wanted to help women increase their wealth and learn about business, reduce fast fashion and contribute to a thriving, mobile economy. I wanted the dress in my possession to hold on to at my pleasure, but still have the prerogative to rent it out for the exposure it deserves.
I want to help a young girl -- like myself -- invest in her dream dress. and even more -- I want to help the girl who can’t afford it be able to wear it.

I really into the idea of a reduction of fast fashion. It's a very big problem in terms of environment and cloths tends to get rubbish. So good job!!! 👍✨ And great colors)
