Product Hunt is all you need for PR. @rrhoover

@mjmcclain Product Hunt can make a big impact but I wouldn't solely rely on it if your goal is to do a big marketing push and have the time to invest. The best way to get sustainable press imho is to build real relationships with journalists and well before you launch. Help them do their job, independent of your own business or "selfish" motivations and they'll want to write about you.

@mjmcclain @rrhoover Look like a lot of people (http://www.producthunt.com/posts...) are working on Curated lists of products. In some way it is similar to PH although from my experience people associate producthunt with new products rather than a curated directory.

@mjmcclain @rrhoover Well said. PR = public relations = relationships with journalists.

@rrhoover well said. I would add one thing: The wonderful thing about the Internet is that it's not just about journalists and bloggers anymore. You can do so many things - including niche websites and product hunt - and reach a big chunk of your audience without traditional media. Stories should be understood in a bigger sense: Data can be a story, collaborative projects can be a story, a dinner with the best people in your industry is a story. Any place will do, where you and your work can be seen Pitching your product and company is a teeny tiny fraction of what's possible these days, no matter if you call it social media, pr, growth hacking or marketing. I'm a big fan of @levelsio work and this one hour video from @edzitron (www.ran.do/panel). Teaches a lot about patience and relationships.
