Pixelz is Youtube for game developers. We make it easy for game developers to share their games on web and mobile. Pixelz allows developers to upload their videogames and play them on desktop or mobile through the web. (Currently only support for Unity Webgl)
Hey everyone 👋
My name is Raul Faife. I'm 23, just graduated college, and I'm currently based out of Miami Florida 🌴
I made my first mobile game in 2016. I was a huge fan of Flappy Birds' simplicity and like any other highschooler, I decided to make my own game. I made a simple Unity project where the user can flip a pencil with their finger. It sounds simple (and it was) but it had my classmates in a frenzy competing for who can get the highest score. One of the biggest issues I had was that none of my friends with IOS devices were able to play. Apple had rejected my mobile app and at every appeal it kept getting rejected.
It's 2024 and people are still dealing with this issue. Thousands of microgames are rejected from the app store and any attempt to bypass this has limited creativity by forcing users' into a single game engine, usually made by the publisher of the app.
Last year I began working on my own solution, at first I thought it was that we just needed to make it easier to make videogames. So I invested 8 months building a web based game engine and it was cool. However none of my friends wanted to use it, why? Because many people do know how to make games and already have a preference to what they want to use. Either Unity, Unreal, Godot, Phaser, Wonderland Engine, etc. That's when it clicked, the issue wasn't the creation of games but the distribution and discovery of them. Itch IO has thousands of games being uploaded, but no mobile app?
That's when my co-founder (Gino Rey) and I decided to try our own solution. We decided to build a platform like Youtube for Videogames. Where any user can post their projects no matter how "small" or "bad" it may look. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and this current system is flawed in how games can be discovered and shared. Everyone is unique but the world is big enough to find your niche in it. We're trying to build the future platform for game distribution and hope you will join us for the next decade of building 🫡
