Paxo gives you clear, concise, and actionable meeting notes in minutes. It’s a scribe in your pocket for any meeting, anywhere. Paxo is purpose-built for in-person conversations, and architected from the ground up to protect your privacy.
Hey everyone! I built Paxo (paxo.ai) with my friend @rhythmgarg after discovering no one had done a good job productizing AI audio meeting notes on mobile. There are tons of tools that will join your Zoom meetings and record (hello Otter) — but none of these products have a compelling mobile experience.
So we built Paxo. We combine OpenAI Whisper, GPT-3.5, and our own custom speaker identification system. Our app is still early, but we think it's a big improvement atop other solutions on the App Store — and a big improvement over Voice Memos!
One of the things we're most excited about with Paxo is the ability to use it on the go. With our mobile app, you can record meetings and get high-quality notes even if you're not at your desk. (I love to go on walks with people, and Paxo makes it easy to keep track of the discussion.) And while Paxo isn't free, we're tried to price it aggressively low. For example, Paxo is roughly half the cost of Otter ($8.99 vs $16.99).
We're constantly working to improve Paxo, and we'd love your feedback. If you're someone who spends a lot of time in meetings and wishes you had an easier way to keep track of what was said, give Paxo a try and let us know what you think!
Sound amazing! I'd like some more info on the website, namely:
- you highlight protection of privacy but don't explain how it works (on PH you mention it's OpenAI Whisper, but does it work locally or through a server?)
- what languages does it work with?
Update: I saw in the privacy page: “When you create a new recording, those recordings are sent to our server for analysis. (Trust us — we’d do it on device if we could.) We transcribe your recording on our server, and then we process the transcription using OpenAI.”
Good to know! But while *you* do not keep the transcript, it still stays on OpenAI's server. So I think it's a bit misleading to advertise this as an app focused on protecting your privacy.
@anna_0x thanks for the feedback!
I want to flag that we've also opted out of OpenAI retaining transcripts, so it doesn't stay on OpenAI's server either (provided they're fulfilling their contractual obligations!).
This gives us the ability to provide some pretty cool privacy assurances:
- We have no idea what you're recording, and we have no direct way of accessing your recording
- Same goes for transcript and notes — once it's done processing, we can't touch or see it
- Everything is anonymous, as we don't have user accounts
In a dream world, nothing would ever leave your device. Short of that, we've tried to take the most aggressive privacy stance we can 🤗
@rmrm also good to know! My point is, if an app is advertising privacy, I expect full transparency upfront—without having to do any digging or ask any questions ;)
I tried downloading Paxo on my MacBook Air M2, but “This app is available only on the App Store for iPhone and iPad.” I can typically download iPad apps, so this is a bummer.
