Hi Product Hunters! 👋
I’m Kyran, cofounder at Outverse, a platform designed for the next generation of online communities. We’re super excited to be sharing more for our launch here today. Massive thanks to the amazing @thisiskp_ for hunting us! 🙏
We built Outverse because we think the experience for internet communities is due a huge upgrade. As a team we’ve been building and participating in these communities for the past two decades — from old-school forums through to Discord and Slack groups. And over the past year, we’ve been speaking to hundreds of community builders.
While products like Slack can be great for some use cases, they’re not a natural home for communities. The format of instant, short-form response & lack of overarching thread-based organisation means that discussions are easily lost within the noise. At the same time, more traditional community and forum-style platforms are generally outdated, uninspiring and missing key collaborative features. We’re upgrading the UX to a level you’d expect from a modern community platform.
With Outverse, community builders & members will get:
💬 Thoughtfully designed, thread-based forums
🧩 Notion-style custom space builder with multiplayer collaboration features
📺 Video spaces that are easy to set up & all handled natively
🖌️ Customization options to better personalize your community
⚙️ Integrations and embeds (Loom, Figma, Giphy, YouTube & more coming!)
And here are some of the things we're currently working on:
🤖 Powerful automations to simplify the community onboarding journey and beyond
🌍 Opening the product up to community-built apps & extensions
🦾 Even more advanced no-code blocks for our custom space builder
We’re currently in beta and are onboarding community builders in batches right now. To join, sign up at https://outverse.com and share some more details about yourself. Everyone who completes this form will receive an invitation to join our own Outverse-hosted community! 🪐
We’d love to hear your feedback and thoughts 🙏
@thisiskp_@kyranschmidt I think this is an inspired move (and totally overdue as you say). Good luck today but I think the upvote numbers are going to speak for themselves. This is so needed!
@thisiskp_@kyranschmidt@theflowagency Thanks so much for the support, Glen! so excited to see what you and the rest of the community build with Outverse! 🪐
Hey all, I was recently introduced to Outverse through one of my Twitter followers. As a community builder, I'm always in the hunt for cutting-edge tools and platforms that reimagine the experience of bringing people together online.
After checking out Outverse and getting to know the founders' vision, I am beyond thrilled to introduce it to the larger PH community today! 🎉
In short, Outverse is a community platform that's easier to use, better organized and designed for real interaction.
It is a perfect amalgamation of the best parts of Internet forums (elegant threading) and Notion-style custom spaces blended together. I was blown away by the UX and the seamless design even at this early version. My favorite feature is the "Video spaces" which allows you to integrate hassle-free live video spaces and events, within your Outverse community. No external video tools needed.
Outverse is a leapfrog attempt at what a modern community platform would look like in 2022. I am planning to explore the tool a lot further this year, I hope you'll check it out and see if it makes sense for your community. The Outverse team is here all day to answer any questions you may have, so don't be shy :)
@thisiskp_ Thanks so much for hunting us and helping to share Outverse with the world! 🪐
I love that our vision for the product resonated so strongly with you as such a prolific community builder. I'm really excited to see you build and grow your own communities with Outverse soon. 🙏
Outverse is an amazing website. It's a great platform for people to interact with each other and share their ideas, thoughts, etc. They are very active on social media as well. I love how it provides everything you need in one place including forums, custom spaces (pages), blogs, video posting sites like Youtube or Vimeo which can be shared easily via the site interface or through links/embeds from other platforms such as Twitter or Facebook!
Testing out the beta version of outverse and I’m really impressed by what the product has to offer. Building communities and having active users is really hard. When having to use multiple tools and platforms you’re expecting too much from them - outverse seems to be the solution. Having the freedom to building a custom space fitting the specific needs of your community is super powerful. It has huge potential to enable communities to become a daily habit of their users. I’m super excited to see where this product will go!
I got my hands on Outverse recently and was super impressed.
Having spent a huge amount of time in various Slack and Discord communities, one of my major pain points is not being able to easily find previously shared knowledge and content.
Outverse’s approach to organised forums/threads feels great and seems like what has been missing! With fast, intuitive search and the ability to embed and reference different objects within Outverse, wherever you are.
Another thing that stood out was the approach they’ve taken with product design. The platform feels thoughtfully and intentionally crafted – and genuinely just more modern and slick than other community platforms! Directionally, I think this is super exciting. One of the features that stood out here is the command bar and keyboard shortcuts – super fast and I’d love to see the team introduce more!
As a big Notion user, the Outverse custom space builder feels familiar and super easy to use. Having spoken to the founders about their vision for customisation – I’m excited to see where they take this vision.
The product feels awesome – super excited to be on board for the future!
I've loved using Outverse so far, got access to a very early version of it and have been using it for both some internal company comms for my agency and also for building a community personally too. Can definitely see how valuable it'd be for an influencer or content creator with an audience so will be recommending to a few friends now that it's launched! The team have been super responsive to feedback and suggestions I've given which has been great so I'm super excited for them now that it's live. It's also nice as the Outverse community as a whole has launched now so nice to see a lot of activity happening.
