Hello Product Hunt Community My name is Jon Gillham, Founder of Originality.AI, very excited to share Originality.AI on Product Hunt today! ***** Product Hunt Community Launch Day Free Offer ***** Signup at Originality.AI on Jan 10 PST and receive 500 credits (Enough to scan 50k words!) for FREE! No credit card is required. It is 2023 and especially with ChatGPT it is clear that the AI content genie is out of the bottle! With the proliferation of AI content the term “Original Content” needs to be redefined for 2023 and as digital marketers, we need to be armed with a modern set of tools to verify originality. I am a fan of AI content BUT I also strongly believe that the decision on when AI content should be used should be up to you the marketer/publisher paying for the content and not the writer. Before Originality.AI I built and sold a couple content marketing agencies where it became clear that a modern Plagiarism Checking solution along with an AI detection tool were needed! From that idea Originality.AI has been built. Originality.AI is a modern Content Originality Checking solution that we built specifically for serious Web Publishers and NOT students. If you are a digital marketer/content agency/web publisher this tool is built for us… Accurate AI Detector: - With 94% accuracy detect ChatGPT-generated content - Trained on all popular NLP models - See detection history Modern Plagiarism Checker: - Modern plagiarism checker built for serious web publishers - not students! - Add team members - See a scan history - auto-billing - 20% less expensive then the typical competition Chrome Extension: - Quickly check to see if any content was AI generated - Work within Google Docs or Wordpress to verify if the content was AI generated Whats Next: The team has grown and we are working quickly on the following improvements… - Highlighting AI content - Bulk site scanner - A big plagiarism checker upgrade Some Limitations: The ability to detect AI content is not 100% accurate and so it can generate some false positives. At 94% accurate on GPT-3 raw output it will not 100% of the time detect AI-generated content. However, over a large enough sample the results can be relied upon. Excited to hear your feedback.

@jon_gillham good stuff Jon. Wish I had this two months ago when I wrote my ebook. I’ll be using this for some writers I have building the next ebook.
Jon Gillham
@kensavage sounds good Ken. Yah there have been some interesting discussions with writers based on the findings of Originality.AI. Some who swore they never used AI when confronted with data admit to it.

With things evolving so rapidly in the space, it’s great to see innovation going into both sides - the rush to create and the rush to moderate Congrats on the launch ?makers !

@aridutilh thanks Air. Yah it is a fascinating time for generative AI. We are not "against" AI content but only believe that a publisher should be the one making the decision on when they will and will not use AI content.

I'm glad I found Originality.AI. I'm both a writer and an editor so it's extremely important for me to make sure that my own work doesn't get tagged as plagiarized - believe me, this is a challenge especially when I need to copy an exact quote from my sources so I have to make sure my content is at a safe percentage. I also always thought that no robot can ever take the place of writers, apparently there are many AI's these days that do the work. It was another challenge for me when my clients started asking for BOTH plagiarism-free and no-AI-used proofs. My usual go-to plagiarism checker doesn't have the AI detector capability. Using two different apps/programs won't be practical for me since I have to do checks almost every day. Thankfully, there's Originality.AI. I'm super thankful I also received those free credits as well, which gave me the chance to try it out before making a decision. Just one question though and I hope the maker would notice me - what's the basis for the AI detection percentage? I'm just wondering because I'm pretty sure I wrote all of my content and I never use an AI, in fact, I don't know how to use AI, but I'm still getting more or less 20% AI detection. I also need to know since I intend on using this a lot for articles from other writers that I check. Thank you!

@rona_field good news Originality.AI thinks your comment is 100% original. You are not a bot! It is saying there is a 20% probability that the content is AI generated and 80% probability it is human-generated. The tool is 94% accurate so there is always going to be some false positives. If you are getting under 20% probability of AI consistently that is good.
Rona Marie Field
@jon_gillham Thank you for your response! Just to be clear, 20% for AI probability is good enough, right? I'm asking so I can use this as a standard when checking articles submitted to me.

@jon_gillham @rona_field I'm curious too. A comment further below had a theory that if the content doesn't provide value and just states fact then it's usually a higher AI %.
Jon Gillham
@rona_field What I can suggest is that... 1. Look at a larger sample than 1 article to make a decision on a writer 2. A writer that gets typically very low scores has 1 higher score... not necessarily AI For example if you have a writer who submits 10 articles and these are the AI scores... Writer 1: 99, 75, 99, 99, 0, 15, 99 65, 74, 99 - Very good chance they are using AI with some minor edits to some articles Writer 2: 0, 0, 15, 0, 1, 40, 75, 0, 0, 20 - Very good chance they are not using AI but had a couple articles where they needed to write very formulaic content which can trigger a false positive Writer 3: 45, 55, 68, 99, 0, 43, 25, 15, 20, 65 - Hard to say anything conclusively but based on what we have seen this is likely heavily edited AI or AI used for some parts of the content
