Only Recipe App removes all the clutter from any recipe website and displays only the instructions and ingredients in a clean and simple layout. You don't have to read through 1000-word blogs to find the recipe.
This is pretty cool!
I built a site with the same goal this year - justtherecipe.website. My approach isn’t as good though, I have to scrape and store sites regularly and the site uses ElasticSearch to find the recipe and show the data. It’s more like a small search engine for recipes.
I think I like yours more though! I’ve stopped updating mine lately anyway.
@rain2o Ah! That must be very tiring. Rate limits, sites html changing, temporary ip blocks and what not.. I have been in the crawling/scraping field for a while and i can understand the pain that comes with it.. May be you could try the method i have used..
@shopping_saga Yeah it sounds like your way is much better. Admittedly part of the reason I built it was for learning. I wanted to try out Golang so I decided to build a scraper in it. Either way it was fun and I learned a lot.
Do you talk about how you built this anywhere (blogs, Twitter, IH, etc...)?
Damn this is good. I hate having to scroll through all nonsense just to find the actual recipe. You should make small browser addon for this as well. So it is just clicking a button whenever I find a receipe.
@supungs Yes. It is possible currently.. Create a new bookmark and add this in the URL
javascript:(function(){window.open('https://onlyrecipe.app?url=%27+w...
This way when you are on the recipe site, you can just click on the bookmark and it will take you to onlyrecipe.app directly and show the recipe..
