How can Nitro Help?: Nitro creates a meal and hydration plan for sports competitors or enthusiasts on pre game day and game day. Pre game day nutrition is extremely important for the actual game the next day. Nitro provides you with meal plans and ingredients with the exact amount of carbs and protein and water you need to prepare for your game. It calculates the energy expenditure for your sport position according to your metrics and makes sure that between pre game and game day meals your calorie consumption preps you for your game. How it works: Enter the following 📏 height, weight, age, gender 🏅 your sport and playing position ⏰ Kick off time 🥗 Select any food exclusions/allergies ✅ Done! Nitro then calculates your meal plans for the day before and on game day Our Story: Myself and my two fellow makers are all tech mad and equally mad about sports. None of us have played professionally but we have all played our various sports in competitive leagues. In the pursuit of better performance we all watched videos and read a lot of articles on how to prepare better. There is a lot of information out there and we often would share conflicting tips on what we had found. Could there be a simple way to eat better in the build up to a game for better performance? After all, the famous “carbing up” quote the day before has been around for many years and “drink fluids until your urine is clear”! Great old school advice. But what does that mean in granular terms for a unique individual! So, we set out building a really simple tool that could provide a meal plan specifically for a competitor and their sport. This would ensure the right amount of hydration and calories for an individual and their position. What we found on the web was a lot of standardized tips, like, an adult male should drink 2.5 liters of water per day or an average female should consume X amount of calories per day. Okay great, but what about all the other body types, age, weights. Surely a 120KG player has a different diet and hydration requirement than a 70KG player? Both could be on the same team and similar positions but have different diet requirements based on their height, weight and age. Or what about a position on the same team that requires the individual player to burn more calories. A winger in soccer compared to a central defender in soccer. Massive differences in meters run and explosive sprints. We spoke with fellow sports players and a few nutritionists and we set about building Nitro. The aim was to build an easy to use, great priced tool that could help a competitor be aware of the calories and hydration they need for game day and secondly provide meal options. It would do so by calculating energy expenditure of particular sport positions and combine this with individual competitor metrics to create custom meal plans for increased performance on game day. We didn't want Nitro to get too technical and we do advise that we are not nutrition experts or medical professionals but we wanted Nitro to give an all inclusive opportunity for all sports competitors to prep like a pro. Between the three of us we are not on the strong side of Ui design, but we were certain we wanted the look to be as simple as possible, allowing all ages of competitors to feel comfortable around the tool, including junior competitors.
