Music is best when shared. With MusicMatch, friends can share and open music links even if they use different streaming services, like Spotify and Apple Music.
Hi ProductHunt!
MusicMatch allows friends with different streaming services to effortlessly share links to songs, albums, and artists. Here's how it works...
HOW IT WORKS
1. Receive a link to a song, album, or artist from a friend
2. Copy the link to clipboard
3. Open MusicMatch
4. MusicMatch will automatically open your preferred app
SAFARI EXTENSION
With the MusicMatch Safari Extension, you can open music links without ever opening the MusicMatch app. To get set up, follow the in-app instructions.
Right now we are only supporting Apple Music and Spotify, but we do hope to add support for YouTube Music, Tidal, Pandora, and all of the many others. (Wow there are a lot of streaming services out there – I had no idea until diving in to this project just how many exist.) If there's a service you'd really like us to add, write in at musicmatch.co/#help!
COLLABORATING
@patrickwhardy and I had great fun crafting this social music utility. We hung out in the mountains, went rock climbing, drank negronis, and brought MusicMatch to life. We hope you enjoy MusicMatch as much as we've enjoyed building it!
Thanks, everyone!
@anna_voronina148 Hi Anna – great question!
I love new music recommendations, but I got tired of constantly tapping the shared link, finding the song/album/artist name, opening my music app, searching, hoping I found the right thing... It was onerous.
When @patrickwhardy and I found out about Safari Extensions coming to iOS 15, we knew we could solve this problem in an elegant, accessible way. Collaborating on a project like this was too fun not to – especially after we found a solution to a problem we both felt.
The goal is to make music sharing frictionless. We started with solving that for ourselves in the most impactful way, understanding that it would surely be relevant for other people too.
