Hello Product Hunters,
I helped my team build this dedicated, official app for Meetup's Organizers over the past year plus.
The tech stack is backed by Kotlin Multiplatform Mobile for both Android and iOS. The user interface was created in Jetpack Compose for Android and SwiftUI for iOS. Most of the non-UI code is shared Kotlin code, including all of the network, persistence, serialization, and translations. It's been translated into thirteen languages by human translators.
The app adds additional capabilities which the regular Meetup app for members does not have. For example, editing drafts is supported, as is Zoom integration and rich text editing using a mostly WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get) Markdown editor. We also have many plans in the works.
I just moved to the suburbs and I'm still in the process of building out my social network here. I'd love to see some features that help with creating a bit more serendipity. It'd be cool to be able to setup push notifications to spur more ad hoc meetups.
Meetup is a great way to find interesting events in any city. In addition to the core focus on hangouts, Let's Hang provides a section for non-commercial events.
Slow and buggy interface!! Such a poor experience since messaging is inconsistent and unreliable. Comments can not be edited. URL links are strangely escaped so pins from Apple Maps do not get hyperlinked properly.
Trying to monetize a platform where users do not want to pay for a subscription is a failing business model
