π Hi to all hunters looking for new encounters! Genuinely excited to publicly introduce MeetUβour iOS app where you can meet people around the world. Itβs been some time since we released it, and now we feel ready for you!
In a nutshell, MeetU is a place for open-minded people with different reasons to meet each other. A community of ready-to-be-met individuals.
We know that people look for others through social networks and dating services. And we know it is an exhausting process, especially when you need to swipe right and left hundreds of times with a low conversion to a chat (let alone meetings). Because of it, we created a dating-free platform where reasons to meet are exposed to the community. Just tell people that you want to ride a bicycle, and somebody else will find your proposition interesting enough to do it together!
Moreover, feel free to share your hobbies and interests in groups! Public for everybody to join or private only for you and your friends. Book clubs, Moviegoers, DIY Talents, and others.

@shivi_jalota an interesting note actually! For sure, we were looking pretty much at dating services creating our app (and their obvious problems). But Clubhouse wasn't one of pieces on our inspiration board :)

β For now, we can't afford to roll out the app on other platforms. But in a distant future, yes.
β Europe and US markets are our priorities for now. We believe that one of the main problems is to be able to meet people abroad so we don't want to restrict ourselves geographically too much. So, we want to target mostly not by geography but problems we are trying to solve. Anyway, it's just a hypothesis now we stick to.
β We already were experimenting with subscription model, but rejected this idea for now to make the main funnel with as little steps as possible to gather important metrics faster. So, one of the ideas we are looking at in future is to monetize groups and admin tools inside them.

At the moment we're working on business model of social discovery app & such feedbacks as yours are highly valuable.
Is it possible for you to share the marketing budget for attracting users you're going to spend? And which promo instruments you're planning to use?
And you know, I quite agree with your strategy on refusing from subscription model now. It might be later on some features (e.g. packages of them for groups owners & participants etc.).

@yaroslava quite a question for us right now, which can't be answered unfortunately :(
Our goal for now is NOT to grow our user base as fast as possible but to learn more about use cases, users' problems, etc. Hence, we don't look for tough promo tools but just some classic ones like Facebook to get a few hundreds users to observe their behavior in the app. The budget itself is not so bloated in this case as you can see.
I guess in some future I will be able to share more info about this topic :)
