Hello! You might know me from my previous startup: Sunrise Calendar! For the past 4 years I have been building JUMBO, a way to make security and privacy simpler.
Today, I'm excited to show you our latest work: JUMBO 4. The biggest news is that JUMBO is now completely free, and the app has been redesigned to be easier to use.

With more and more data leaks happening (just recently TMobile and PayPal), we want to build a beautiful app that makes you safer online, while potentially saving you hundreds of dollars (if you already pay for identity theft insurance).
So.. why did we switch from a paid consumer subscription to free? How can we afford to offer free identity theft insurance? Are we going to sell your data to make money?
1. First, no. We will never sell your data. Our privacy policy https://blog.withjumbo.com/priva... is very clear about that point, and I could be legally in trouble if we were found to sell your data.
2. On the business model: After running a consumer subscription for more than 2 years, we found that a lot of people can’t or don't want to pay $100 a year. This limited our growth (we got to 25,000 paying subscribers), as viral and organic growth is much harder as a paid product. So we became dependent on buying ads to grow, which never felt right to me.

The work to protect yourself online will never be “done”. JUMBO 4 is certainly our best work so far, but we are pushing ourselves to make the best security and privacy tool for today’s internet, and for that we need your help.
