I very much appreciate the post on PH, but unfortunately the summary is inaccurate. This pretty clearly points to the need to communicate the nature of the service with more clarity. (Lesson learned!)
Now, as for what it really is: Uber for !Uber. Jitney aims to compete directly with the incumbent's Black and SUV levels of service (though not with 'rideshare' as Jitney works only with professional drivers and vehicles with full commercial insurance.)
Contrary to a lot of opinion, I don't think this is a winner-take-all market, but rather that there is plenty of room for more (many more, even) to create value and enjoy substantial success. When the subsidies (ahem) subside and the supply/demand curves become less warped, I anticipate this market is going to look quite different than it does at present.
