I love this, Riva! I love that you've also included examples like Twitter, really make it seem more relevant and easier to understand the idioms in a richer context.
Also enjoyed the UI/UX experience! Well done on building and launching this!
@andrew_tsao Thanks, Andrew! I do appreciate your kind words. 😉
It’s still in Beta, though, so I would expect to see some bugs report from others. Fingers crossed!
Let's face it: Native speakers use idioms a lot in every conversations. While for non-native speakers (like me!), not knowing the meaning behind each idioms spoken could lead to a wrong assumption.
"Oh easy. Just use Google Translate and call it a day", you said. No, Google Translate is only good for translating literal meaning. However, when you try to translate some expressions, it's going to give you... well, a literal meaning, since Google Translate doesn't know the context.
So, in my opinion, there's should be a sort of centralised with manually curated content in order to collate these idioms, off course with some real-world examples, among any other features.
IdiomIsFun tries to bridge the gap. It consists of commonly used idioms by native speakers, provides definitions and examples for each idiom and expression so non-native speakers would be able to fully understand the context.
Last but not least, have fun learning English idioms! ;)
