Hyperping combines instant alerting whether you prefer email, SMS or Slack notifications, with a simple, beautiful status page to let your users know about ongoing issues in real time.

Their generous free plan lets you explore their monitoring service fully, 5 monitors are free.
Their status page is clean and clear, the major thing for me to choose them was that the status page shows the response times in a nice clear graph.
They also allow to add custom HTML to their status pages, so you can add a nice intro with some basic HTML formatting.
