Huddle is a unique social journaling app that focuses on helping you connect with your loved ones in person and share personal journal posts with them. With Huddle, you can create a private network of friends and family that is completely offline and secure.
Hey all,
Thank you for checking out Huddle!
Unlike other social apps that rely on servers and third-party connections, Huddle is fully on device. This means that your personal information and posts are never stored on a remote server and are only accessible to you and the people you choose to connect with. You can rest assured that your privacy is protected and your personal information is secure.
With Huddle, you can share personal text posts with your friends and family just by pressing a single button. The posts will transfer to each others devices for viewing later so you can instead focus on spending quality in-person time with the people who matter most.
The app is designed to be simple and user-friendly, with a clean and intuitive interface that makes it easy to navigate and use. Whether you're looking to make new connections or strengthen existing ones, Huddle is the perfect app for you.
@wvabrinskas Hey there! The focus on privacy and offline functionality with Huddle is intriguing. Here are some questions and how I can help:
- How does Huddle ensure the security of data stored entirely on user devices? Are there any encryption measures in place?
- Since Huddle is offline-first, how can users discover new connections and keep existing ones engaged without a central server?
As a developer, I'm interested in the technical aspects of data storage and security on user devices. If those align with my skills, I might be able to contribute to future development.
Overall, Huddle offers a unique approach to social interaction. Exploring robust data security on devices, potential user discovery features, and fostering user engagement in an offline environment could enhance its value. I'd be happy to see how Huddle evolves and potentially contribute my skills if relevant!
@max_savonin1 Hey! Thanks for questions. Let me take some time to answer them for you.
Security question:
- The data is stored on device using Apple's CoreData framework, which is a wrapper for SQLite. The database is fully exportable / importable so you can control your data. It is not encrypted as it never leaves your device. Encryption for the database is a good idea though for those who want extra security. I do support face id / passcode locking the app. Your password also never leaves the device and is stored in your Keychain. (this is synced with iCloud though if you have iCloud Keychain enabled). The password is also not stored in plain text. It is encrypted prior to being stored.
Connection questions:
- That's actually the charm of Huddle. You can't explore new connections unless you meet them in person. This is the cornerstone of Huddle, to facilitate private and in person connections.
Hey William,
An offline social journal app is a unique concept!
How does Huddle ensure the security and privacy of the data transferred between devices?
Congrats on the launch!
Hey William, the idea of an off-server app is quite novel and exciting. Though have you considered if a freemium model could help you with user acquisition?
Also, using a video for the listing would really help with understanding the UI of the app, no?
@wvabrinskas yes, I too dislike subscriptions. Though may be the first week/month could be free and then you charge? Lower your entry barrier, the easier it would be to succeed.
