Finally, a flashcard app that just works—for iOS and macOS. Thoughtfully designed, Fresh Cards is a joy to use. Using a swipe interface, card review is quick and best of all, cards are auto-scheduled for review again based on how well you did.
@patrickloonstra It can! You just drag and drop an Anki deck into the app and it'll show you a preview of the cards and you can pick the ones you want to import, or import them all.
Anki decks with custom HTML/CSS/Javascript are a little tricky right now, so they don't always get formatted nicely yet. However, simpler decks work really well. A great example I found is one with Japanese hiragana on one side and audio of its pronunciation on another. Ones with images work great as well.
@torgmg I also came up with a simple "Open Flashcard" file format that makes import super easy. It's just a text file format and you can specify image and audio resources in it. It should make it easy to share decks with others. The app does some dupe-detection as well, so you can update your deck over time if the original author changes any of the cards.
I'm not familiar with the Quizlet format, but it shouldn't be hard to parse it too.

Thanks Allen. Giving it a go tomorrow.
On the landing page and App Store I personally think you should tap into spaced repetition and active recall as a ‘feature’. Other apps don’t and I think they’re missing out. Discovering these principles feels like a memory hack. Similarly, to do some SEO around these topics and ‘own them’ is simple or even work with young ‘education’ influencers. The Anki community is niche and feels like the IBM to your Apple.
Hi, everyone! 👋
My name is Allen and I've created a wonderful new flashcard app called ✨Fresh Cards✨. It's available today for iOS and macOS only. (Don't worry. One of my goals for 2021 is to write an Android version.)
I created the app because I wanted a beautiful, easy to use flashcard app that just worked. Thoughtful features found throughout the app make it a joy to create and review cards. ☺️
The app keeps track of how well you're recalling information and automatically schedules each card for review in the future, so all you have to do is spend a few minutes ⏱ a day doing your lessons. Easy.
Card creation and sharing are essential to the app and they are a breeze. 👷♀️ The app offers multiple ways to import cards, including a simple text file format which also allows you to specify image and audio resources. Have hundreds of images or audio files you want to turn into flashcards? It's easy with this new file format.
I've sweated a lot of the details of the UX and made something really special, so I hope you give it a try. Thanks for reading.❤️
@samarth_reddy Thanks for your interest!
There isn't markdown support quite yet, although that's in the list of features I am going to add soon-ish.
Text import isn't available on iOS yet, but I'm planning on adding that during the next two weeks since I'm on break from my regular job.
