Hello Product Hunt! I'm Phil, the creator and co-founder of Chronoscope. As a software engineer, a recurring pain point I faced no matter the company I worked for is filling up time sheets. When done manually, it is very error prone, usually done late resulting in inaccurate data. Now, as the founder of a growing company, it is clear that knowing how much time is invested in various initiatives is key to making informed decisions, managing budget properly and maximizing tax credit. We have been using Chronoscope internally for over a year now, as well as over 1k users since our soft launch a few months ago and the feedback so far is excellent. ⚔ How Chronoscope Works Chronoscope ingests data from the tools you use everyday, like project management tools (Jira, Asana, Azure DevOps, …), calendars (Google Calendar, Outlook), communication tools (Slack, Teams), and generates a timesheet everyday for every user. In no way Chronoscope monitors processes on your computer. You have nothing to install locally and no start/stop timers to think about. 🧠 Automatic Categorization The key is to remove the burden of logging time from users. Chronoscope ingests data from tools you are already using in your day to day. At the end of your work day, you receive a pre-filled time distribution of your day on Slack/Teams so you can quickly review and confirm. You can configure keywords to leverage auto-categorization. The more you use it, the system will recommend new keywords to improve results. This is greatly appreciated by our existing users! šŸ‘“ Insights As a manager, you can see the distribution of effort of your team across initiatives, identify gap and remediate quickly. This enables you to be proactive instead of reactive. As a developer, you get similar insights, but on your data, which can help you visually understand where you spend your time and doing what (meetings vs code vs support vs …) šŸ’ø R&D tax credits With properly categorized data, you can maximize your R&D tax credits and back your claims with concrete R&D evidence, unlocking a greater R&D investment in your business. We have been working with R&D experts to build the product, so the generated data is audit proof. šŸ¤“ The team Chronoscope would not exist without our incredible team at Chrono. Eng and Product people will be available to discuss with you during the launch, so feel free to drop comments and feedback. We are launching on Product Hunt because we want feedback and insights from the community, which for us is very valuable and highly considered in our product development process. Happy Tuesday!

@philippe_gratton Hi, we create Web Operating System with own app store, where users get software from. Your app is amazing and we want to enable you to share it to our users šŸ™‚ Can we talk?

Do you have any comparative data from your existing customers on the accuracy of their time sheet reporting between their previous tool and since they've been using you? Don't take it as a attack, it's more curiosity about how much the automation proposed by your solution can improve such reporting. Also, I imagine that the automation works well when employees are disciplined in entering all their tasks in their calendar or other tools. How does the system takes into consideration when an employee is asked an urgent task, he switches to that without taking the time to enter it in the calendar before and after working on that task? Congrats and all the best for today.

@julienergan Hi!, well we actually take in count that part when you have a Project Management (PM) tool associated, we track how much take it took an user to finish that. For instance, on Jira there's a change log from when your task was "In Progress" and then it was moved to "Done" and we also take in count if the issue is associated with the user. We perform the same analysis with Asana and Azure DevOps. Otherwise, the user can add those urgent task to their calendar, but I think that's something that should be tracked from the PM tool, the calendar is mostly for meetings. If the user is not disciplined to keep updated their tasks, you can still do it at the end of the day, on Slack we have a command that allows you to refresh or manually create you timesheet. Also, it can be manually tracked on the Hub. I hope this answered your question.
Philippe Gratton
@julienergan Great question! We do not have concrete data on accuracy, but the completion rate greatly increases, to around 90% monthly, compared to very variable rates seen with more manual methods. The system works well when it is connected to tools like Jira and calendars since most of the data is pre-filled in time sheets from these tools. Although, we know that developers do not always keep Jira boards up-to-date and urgent tasks come in, so that is why users always have the option to update their time sheets. The update process is very simple: either directly in Slack/Teams, or via the Chronoscope webapp. Also, you can easily see timesheets that are "pending" (generated but not confirmed by the user yet) vs "confirmed" and we usually see better accuracy on the "confirmed" ones.
