@mack_grenfell Congratulations on the launch! I could really use this in my day to day, being a one man marketing team for my startup. This is a great solution for my challenges as a non-writer working in this field. I'll make sure to take a look and get those 5 free articles going!

I've been using Byword way before I officially 'came on board'. Here are a few case studies from 1 year of using Byword for my SEO projects: 350 AI articles = 1.12M SEO traffic + 33K conversions https://www.linkedin.com/posts/j... When you talk about "SEO", I presume the intended target is Google ranking, but if Google keeps moving towards generative AI answers, what use is the output of this product in, say, a year?
Mack Grenfell
@chrismessina Hey Chris, I'd say it's not really a question of whether Google is moving towards genAI answers, but whether consumers are, and there hasn't been much data to suggest consumers are actually that inclined to change behaviour: https://searchengineland.com/new...
Chris Messina
@mack_grenfell hmm. Nice dodge? But I wouldn't expect Bing to take back market share from Google. And we haven't seen what changes Gemini will bring to Google's search experience. It just seems like gunking up the web with content produced by generative AI will only expedite 1) the death of the web and 2) the need for Google to move away from sourcing content from the web in the first place. It seems at a minimum disingenuous to not acknowledge Byword's contribution to this outcome, and I say that without any judgment. I'm just observing this trend and asking about the consequences of using such a technology to gain an advantage in Google search, or Bing, I guess.
Mack Grenfell
@chrismessina I've not dodged anything? If you think that consumers are that keen on replacing traditional search with genAI answers, then it seems reasonable to expect that Bing (which has been much quicker to adopt) would've increased share. It hasn't increased share, showing that a lot of the predictions about shifting consumer preferences are over-hyped. We've seen this many times before, e.g. constant predictions that voice will fundamentally change SEO, and it never happens. You're also assuming that just because something is AI means that it's bad, or 'gunking up' the web. I'd counter that the majority of Byword articles which are ranking are delivering new information that isn't contained in pre-AI articles. It's not about writing another 'how to start a business' article, it's about the long-tail of 'how to start a handyman business in vermont with x/y/z'. This isn't gunking up anything, as nobody except people making those long-tail searches will see the article, and to them it'll be useful/not covered in pre-existing articles.
