Botal is a comprehensive note-taking app inspired by the works of Charlie Munger, Ray Dalio, and Naval Ravikant. It empowers users to create a personalized web of ideas with over 250 preset and customizable mental models.
Around 2017, I came across the concept of mental models through the book "Poor Charlie's Almanack". Later, I read books such as "Thinking, Fast and Slow", "Principles", "The Almanack of Naval Ravikant", and "Critical Thinking", which deepened my understanding of the importance of mastering mental models in life and work. I then began using some ordinary note-taking software to record how I applied mental models in my life or how I fell into cognitive biases. These notes have proven to be very valuable when reviewed later. Gradually, I hoped for a software specifically designed for taking notes based on mental models, but unfortunately, I couldn't find one after searching for several years. So, I made up my mind to develop one myself, and after one or two years of effort, this app finally went live today. I don't want to boast about how powerful Botal app is, I just want to say that it effectively meets my current needs, and I am willing to continue investing effort in iterating this app. I hope it can at least be used by me for a lifetime, and I also hope that a group of long-term thinkers will be willing to use this app for note-taking and reflection.
