Happy Holidays, Product Hunt! 🎄✨
Over the last few months, I’ve been working on an app to help those who struggle with work-life balance—something I think many of us can relate to these days. After some time in Beta, I’m excited to finally launch Balance! 🚀
Balance is essentially a time tracking app but with a focus on work-life balance, with features including…
→ Manual clocking system that helps you mentally check in and out of work
→ Regular break reminders
→ Focus timer, for those who like the Pomodoro Technique
→ ...and more!
The app is free to use, but there are some optional Pro features for those who get value from the app and want more.
Currently, the only Pro feature (other than supporting an indie developer ❤️) is a log that allows you to track and evaluate your sessions over time.
I have plenty of other exciting features planned, including app/website blocking, goals, time categorization, improved history, and much more—some of which will only be available with Balance Pro.
Balance has already helped me and many others improve our work-life balance. I hope you (or maybe someone you know?) will like it too! 🙏
Are you struggling with work-life balance as well? Think Balance or something else could help? Let me know! 😊👇
@alexandberg it seems like Balance is a helpful tool that can benefit many people looking to improve their work-life balance and productivity. It would be nice to see detailed analytics in the apps, that is what I lack in toggl track and other time tracking apps
@artkulakov Thanks, Art! Currently, you can track things like total session time, latest clock-out, longest sessions, average break time per hour, etc. per week.
I have plans on expanding this by adding more metrics as well as making it possible to view it over months and years as well, and making it more visual.
Please let me know if there are any specific metrics you're looking for, and I will put them on my list. 😊
@alexandberg It would be nice to measure "focus" during the day somehow, for this I believe the app would have to access the PC to monitor clicks and different actions performed
@artkulakov The focus timer in Balance is also measured by "total focus time" if used. However, this is not tracked automatically by design, like with the clocking system, to make you more mindful and conscious about it.
If the demand is there, I will definitely consider adding more automatic session tracking, but I don't think this is very good for work-life balance/mindfulness of your sessions.
@shanu_23 The team is just me—an indie dev—but thanks a lot, Shanu!
What differentiates Balance from other time tracking apps is that your work-life balance is the core value. Many apps try to maximize productivity, not health.
Balance does a lot of what other time tracking apps do, but with your work-life balance in mind.
@francescod_ales Looking forward to the review, Francesco! 😍 Feel free to reach out with any questions or feedback!

I have been looking for a time-tracking tool that wasn't forcing the pomodoro timer on me but still would suggest breaks.
I am enjoying how low-friction over other "Focus" apps.
The Weekly stats really help give perspective on how well I structured my day and how productive I was. The more you know... 😇
Great app for improving work-life-balance, offers everything you need when working at the computer - for instance break reminders, focus mode and an overview of time worked. The clocking-in-and-out-process has helped me a lot to be more mindful about how much I work and how much time I dedicate to valuable breaks in the meantime. Will definitely continue to use! Plus: Elegant, easy-to-use and minimal design. :)
