Interesting! I've come across this idea before. Can't say it's something I've wished for, but I consume news at an alarming rate, hopefully this could reduce the time I spent doing so by making it more digestable

Waverly from ex-Googler @philbeaudoin already exists and provides a preview of what this kind of product might be like. I wouldn't necessarily bet against @mike_krieger or @kevin_systrom, but personalized news is like the Afghanistan of digital apps. Speaking of, has anyone checked on Flipboard recently? 👀

@melad_j seems like the future of all news platforms... although the subscriptions that enable you to hop the paywall (like Zette does now and Twitter Blue used to) are interesting. Never subscribed to Apple News+... FWIW, the @mmccue (CEO of Flipboard) responded: Between the ML and the fediverse, everything old is new again. There's no question in my mind that both will spark a whole new round of innovation. Flipboard's ML models are core to our engagement & the fediverse will shape the future of our social layer. Exciting times ahead.

@chrismessina yeah agreed! It seems the major question when evaluating where to get my news will be who’s algorithm I like the most in no time at all.

@melad_j @mmccue @chrismessina I've been using Apple News+ for a year. While Google News is ok, it's not as well curated and often delivers irrelevant content. One can really customise Apple News+ and I've been able to drop some magazine scrips. Nicer layout too.

I get my news from a variety of sources: - Pocket -> long form - Sunday Long Reads Newsletter -> long form - NYT -> breaking news and lifestyle - Google Chrome Discover -> algorithm-based On its surface, it seems to compete most with Pocket, but I enjoy that reading experience. NYT and SLR both have editorial that resonate with me and are not easily replaced. Google is interesting because it often times serves me stuff I wouldn't expect or seek, but it's generally a bit more trashy and mostly serves to kill time. It's also convenient because I see it when I open new Chrome windows, which this dedicated app wouldn't have. I wonder if this will be good enough to replace any of these.

@product_at_producthunt I'm similar enough. What I want is a quick digest of news that isn't a newsletter that I can read whilst having my breakfast.

What could be cool is a smart summary feature. I could cover more topics and then decide if I want to jump into an article or not to read the whole thing
