Notion’s faces are an iconic and instantly recognizable part of their brand, helping them stand out anywhere. Customizing my own face felt personal and nostalgic—almost like designing a Sim from the 2005 era of The Sims. It was fun and deepened my brand affinity for Notion. It makes me wonder: was this a playful 20% project or a deliberate, strategic move tied to their goals? Either way, it’s a clever feature that keeps Notion top of mind.

Grok for iOS: The official app by xAI

Frequent users of X (née Twitter) will probably already be familiar with the web version of Grok — an irreverent, mostly uncensored chatbot that actually has a sense of humor. The launch of a Grok mobile app seems to be the next step in xAI’s quest to catch up with OpenAI, which has far and away the most name recognition among the general population. Personally, I’m bullish on Grok; besides being funnier and less censored than its competitors, it also has access to real-time data from X — an automatic value-add that, if complemented with improved reasoning, could make it the go-to LLM for poasters worldwide.
