Would you launch a SaaS without having a paid plan available yet?

We have an MVP and want to offer it for free to test out features. I see that most of the launches on PH offer paid plans already. What do you guys think?

Yes, that can be really helpful to get the feedback, see how users use your solution in reality, etc. For our launch we had a free version that gives everything user needs

@oxana_ivanova did you offer a free version as well as a paid one or just the free one?
Launching a SaaS without a paid plan initially allows focus on user acquisition, gathering feedback, and refining the product based on user insights. It helps in shaping a more targeted and valuable paid offering tailored to meet customer needs effectively.
Make the premium version free for the first 100 users or so.
Notion did this a few years back and was successful.

I would find some way to offer a paid plan, even if it is minimal. The best feedback comes from paying customers.

Why not? I can't see a significant disadvantage.

Hey Man, my personal preference is to have a paid plan available. I would always launch with a complete and functional product.
@istiakahmad interesting! How do you know which features should be free and which paid?

Launching soon!
It’s a completely different skin in the game btw when someone pays :)

Launching a SaaS product without having a paid plan available yet is definitely a valid approach, especially if you want to gather feedback and test out features with an MVP. Offering it for free can help you attract early adopters and build a user base.
While it's true that many launches on Product Hunt offer paid plans from the start, there's no one-size-fits-all approach. It ultimately depends on your specific goals and the needs of your target audience.
If offering a free version aligns with your strategy for gaining traction and refining your product based on user feedback, then it could be a great way to go.
Remember, every product launch is unique, so do what feels right for your SaaS offering.
