This is an effective way of doing it because it gives you complete control over what kind of information you want to include in your presentation and how much content you want to present. But I'd suggest you use a template. It will save you time and make your presentation more professional.

Yes. It can take time, but any tool for creating presentations (PPT, Slides, Pitch, Keynote) will take time. The data collection and work that goes into the presentation is the hard part.
