In Asia, video editing apps seem to be used a lot for recording or making vlog-type videos, but I wonder if other countries do too. When do you usually use video editing apps in each country?

I am using a video editing app to edit my YouTube videos. I am posting explainer videos on my channel related to Marketing. I mostly use Vmaker AI video editor for editing my videos quickly and easily.

@aris_nakos That's nice. What apps do you usually use?

@letty0519 CapCut and Canva. I enjoy the interface of the former more, but Canva can implement recording on the spot.

@michaelshver Ah, I see! It seems like people tend to use videos more for sharing on their social media channels rather than creating them for archival or personal collection purposes, huh?

@letty0519 honestly, I don't even know! Personally, I don't do it much, but I'm sure there are people who love creating videos for themselves. However, from what I see, many prefer to share what they record!

@ruben_boonz Do people in your country also often make videos like vlogs? In Korea, vlogs were very popular on YouTube for a while.

@letty0519 in the Netherlands vlogging is still popular

I create a lot of advertisements for broadcast and OTT platforms. I primarily use Resolve and Adobe Premiere. A habit I am actively trying to break is utilizing newer technologies like producthunt.com/products/focusee rather than editing it myself. Is it as polished as something I can create manually? No, but in most cases the time saved is more valuable than the improved results. I can spend all day editing a video to perfection when a lot of use cases donโ€™t require this.

@claytonwalker I'm so flattered you enjoy using FocuSee and glad to know it saved valuable time for you. ๐Ÿ™Œ

@claytonwalker Wow, you're quite the expert in video editing! I needed diverse opinions, and I appreciate it. Thank you.

@letty0519 I think the others in this thread are giving good advice. If youโ€™re new to it use something like CapCut with an easy learning curve. A well polished video has its time and place, but at the end of the day the content in the video is most important. Most editors nowadays provide you the basic tools to create a solid video. If you need something epic hire it out unless you want to spend many hours learning yourself. There are countless easy tools to get you up and running, Iโ€™d start with CapCut but also take a look at the video editing platforms here on product hunt, you might be able to find something tailored for your specific goal :)

@jocelyuki I wish I had started using it sooner! I made the jump from loom and it use it for anything that will be publicly viewed. I do use loom still for quick videos to send to team members, but hoping I can fully phase it out with future updates. Your team is killing it - excited for future updates

from the US and i've never heard of people editing for personal use, but that's an interesting use case!

@yukioyama You're right. The usage of video editing seems to vary by country. In Korea, vlog videos were popular, and there seems to be a preference for recording situations like parenting or weddings.
