  • What’s your ideal work-life-balance?

Well, we all know there’s no such thing like perfect work-life balance. But we can try to make it a healthy one for better productivity. I try to meet my deadlines and make time for my family & friends to balance it out. Following the proper sleep cycle will promote the same. Share your way of prioritising things to balance your professional and personal life.

@qudsia_ali absolutely. Always. Set your priorities according to your values. Probably this is laying in the core of work-life balance.
    Alessandro Canella
@qudsia_ali Definitely, it’s important to take out some time for your close ones. That is what we will end up cherishing the most in our life :)

Don't know, maybe at a certain age there can be no balance. But after a point in life, balance just comes and stays for a longer time,.

Work is a part of life so I don't understand what work-life balance means. It's better to call it work-play balance. For me play is anything that can take your mind of work in a good way (you're house on fire can take your mind off of work pretty fast, but we don't want that now do we?!) So play is anything hanging out, pursuing hobbies random stuff. What you do is however, very very very dependant on who you do these things with - so make sure you have some strong relationships with people around you otherwise even the most interesting activities will fail to grab your mind.

Ideally, I'd like to work for myself, have a well-working passive business where I can be busy with marketing only - looking for new customers, meeting new people, enjoying socialization around my business and more. Something like a winery, a coffee-shop, in a tourist city at the shore of the sea sounds really comforting. That would be ideal balance for me - running an aesthetically attractive business with low stress and enjoying small little things.

@dan_yes Is it the feeling of running a business you want or the passive income?

When you love what you do, work-life-balance becomes moot. Find work you love to do.

You might assume you need to reach a point of crisis in order to work with a therapist. But therapists can be an excellent resource when it comes to creating a healthy work-life balance.

@nancy_talton okay, could you please elaborate? So that I understand your pov better. :)

Accept that there is no 'perfect' work-life balance. Don't strive for the perfect schedule; strive for a realistic one. Some days, you might focus more on work, while other days you might have more time and energy to pursue your hobbies or spend time with your loved ones. Balance is achieved over time, not each day.
    Alessandro Canella
@rted_tieken Yes, following a realistic pattern would definitely help! It takes time but if you will end up achieving the one that suits you the best! :)

To me, the term "balance" correlates with "harmony". Thereby, when talking about work-life balance I tend to perceive it in a way that I am in harmony with my choices and decisions when allocating time for work and the rest of life. For instance, if I spend all day and night working yet it internally feels right to me, I take it as my internal peace and balance. Frankly saying, I'm quite a workaholic so work-life balance to me is more of a trendy hype term rather than the actual guiding star. The work I do makes me happier and more fulfilled in life, so its presence makes the life balanced :) Hope it makes any sense. Too many letters haha

@anastasiiahere if you spend all day and night working, but it doesn't feel right - do you get straight back up the next day?
    Anastasiia K
@chetan_natesh I think the beauty of freelancing and entrepreneurship is not to do something if it does not feel right or somehow meaningful. Of course, sometimes I have to put max effort in one day; but I have arranged my work and work promises in a way that they do not stress me out and I still can somehow sustain that emotional balance and harmony, as I was referring to :) My advice though - do not overwork, really. Many things in life are overestimated, and health, for some reason is taken for granted at times.

@anastasiiahere Wow, I love this explanation and picture of your ideal work-life balance. I agree with you; when we do something that we love, we experience harmony and freshness, which lead toward good vibes and balance. Kool thanks Anastasiaa!

@alessandro_canella first of all, I'm glad you read my longread :) Sometimes when I get in the flow of expressing ideas, they go long. Yet since we have been sharing views about harmony, is there any work you are doing at the moment that helps you get that feeling of balance and goodness? :)
