    ## Product Hunt gave us visibility but 0 conversions We got a bump in our traffic but zero conversions - no one has signed up yet. Implications: I seem to be in a pub where I paid stag entry fees - but the club is full of stags and no gals. ## Product Hunt filters out all votes from outside regular Product Hunt users We had at least 2000 votes - but it whittled down to 500+ because these were new users who had signed up just before voting. Is it fair? I think it is. Is it known? I think not - and as launchers, you should know. What matters is the number of people already on Product Hunt and active who vote for you. ## There is a marketing group that has caused vote inflation and seeks a tax which you are forced to pay Upon launching, we were bombarded by marketers offering to secure votes. Further investigation revealed a likely coordinated group of marketers active on Product Hunt primarily to sell votes. They seem to operate by sharing clients, collectively upvoting products, and splitting profits. This creates a "vote tax" - you either pay for their services or risk losing by a narrow margin of 100-150 votes, coincidentally the same amount these marketers typically promise. ## Key Takeaways from the Experience 1. Product Hunt's impact wasn't as significant as we initially expected. We had set unrealistic expectations. 2. It's primarily a marketing tool for visibility, but potentially reached the wrong audience for us. (Our free 30-day trial seemed less appealing than other offerings (eg:12,000 free emails ) to this crowd.) 3. We gained firsthand experience to inform future discussions about Product Hunt launches. 4. The launch beautifully united our team around a common goal - perhaps the most significant benefit. 5. Its a beautiful feeling to know you have 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 who go out of their way to help you - 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂 all for participating & doing your best. ## Last words ... The biggest rub of all this was perhaps the small voice in my head and heart which said "Okay, it's done, now let's get back to REAL WORK" - that is the tragedy of this. And if you are genuine Developer / Product hunter - sign up dude and give us some real brutal unfiltered feedback Do. Don't upvote , don't comment.
